I am an older man who has listened for more than 40 years of music. At my age, there is no need to find someone who, like going to impress my stereo loud. And I'm smart enough to know that I do not need to spend $ 500 + on a subwoofer. I turn now to listen to music at low volume to moderate levels, I learned to feel comfortable. Even when watching movies in surround sound, I do not feel the need to produce seismic activity. At this point, because most of us, this is very Polk PSW10strong enough for home theater and music. The bass is very deep. And until you crank the volume on the same way subwoofer is not boomey. You should never need to up the subwoofer volume. Just take the time to read the instructions and take time to adjust the settings of the receiver / amplifier and subwoofer. The instructions say to you, your front (main) speakers for the value "small set (if you have a surround receiver or amplifier).After a short time is the weak point and you should rarely need to touch the volume controls on the subwoofer. The only drawback I can think is that this unit has a large footprint and it takes a lot 'of space. And if you feel you need to convince your friends and neighbors with the subwoofer volume may disappoint the PSW10. But if you simply want a good subwoofer will sound for integrating your library or satellites, the Polk PSW10 fits the billnice. It really makes the music (and movies) and full live sound. At first I was about why an active sub would do my skeptical passive sub. This question has remained with me until I received the product and some initial tests.
